Relict Gull again in Kazakhstan

We just received information about Relict Gulls (Ichthyaetus relictus) from their nesting ground on Alakol Lake. Our friend, young birdwatcher Dinara Muratova, provided us with these photographs that she took on 9–10 July 2010 at the site where we usually see Relict Gulls during our birdwatching tours. The photos were taken with a small camera and you can tell bird was quite tame. Ornithologists rarely visit the area and we have little recent data to go on so we are very glad to have confirmation that the Relict Gulls are still around their nesting grounds!
